How can anyone believe that their work and efforts in attempting to care for the poor, evangelize the gospel, serve in church positions as laity and clericial, are not affected by the abortion crisis in this country? There can be no victories in the modern day Christian movement until abortion is eliminated in this country.
It is not possible that any Catholic can ignore the crisis of over 4,000 children killed daily in clinics and abortion mills. Abortion stories and political waging of the killing of babies is in every newspaper every week. The death culture agenda has been a leading issue in political campaigns for decades, in divisions among families, and within the very walls of local churches.
Abortion exists in bold letters, threatening every effort we make in ministering to people, yet abortion is treated as a whispered concern, people faining that they don't want to hurt those people who have been involved with an abortion.
Well, time is up and we are called on by God to answer for our actions or inactions in this basic fight in defense of life.
During a recent telephone call with a CoR supporter in Tucson, I expressed concern for the lack of actions of Catholics fighting abortion, not only in Arizona but nationwide. Though many people pray to end abortion, at times it seems it is fourth or fifth on a list of active ministries. Children of the Rosary leaders know that if we don't push back the death machine, and quickly, any other well-meaning ministry will be dashed against the rocks of an immoral society.
Our mission has always been twofold; praying at the death sites and attempting to distribute educational material about the spiritual and physical dangers of abortion.
I believe now that every individual is aware of the tremendous efforts of many pro-life groups and that if people do not place the sacredness of life as their first issue, they will be called to account by God.
Though this is a strong statement, I believe that no ministry will be successful unless it includes action in fighting abortion. How would it be possible for individuals to plead their case with God for their ministry while ignoring the bloodshed of the innocent and expect God to respond?
As a parent, how would you respond to the child, pleading for his personal concerns while his brothers or sisters are being threatened? God asks us to love one another as He loves us, yet are we putting our own plans, wishes and concerns before His desire for all children to be allowed to live.
I challenge every ministry leader to incorporate the fight against abortion as a main area of action and watch how the ministry will be blessed, will grow and succeeded in the work attempted. As each person who has the ability to go to abortion mills and chooses to ignore it is responsible to inaction, so each ministry leader is also responsible to lead their group to be responsible as Christians, as Catholics to fight abortion.
If we can not find time to help in the fight to defend God's babies, I wonder how He will respond to our prayer request in other areas. We can not ignore the murder of the innocent children and expect God to continue to bless this country. Perhaps, looking at the current violence incidence in schools and natural disasters already experienced, God is giving us His answer.
