Fr. Marc Calagari, S.J. before his death from cancer, was active in the pro-life movement. Father Calagari (in clerics) joined Fr. John Larkin , O.Carm. (in white hat) and Fr. Dan Irby as pro-lifers prayed to end abortion in front of Brian Finkle's abortuary. We ask every one to keep Fr. Calagari, S.J., Fr. Ambrosi, and Rev. Msgr. Neil McHugh in your prayers. We have lost three valiant defenders of the preborn babies but we know in our hearts they are working for the babies from Heaven!

BEHIND THE MASK

By Nancy Vogel

As I opened the November 2nd issue of the Phoenix Catholic Diocese newspaper, The Catholic Sun, Halloween did not turn out so “Hallow." On page four was an advertisement for Baby Arizona, a referral agency for mothers. I flashed back to the last time the group Baby Arizona had come up in my pro-life work.

I had seen the advertisement before in another issue several years ago. So, I called the 800 phone number in the ad for Baby Arizona. A young lady answered. She answered my questions, confirming that Baby Arizona phone calls were based in Arizona and was connected to “Pregnancy and Breast-feeding Hotline”. But, didn’t I call Baby Arizona? I had forgotten what had happened six years ago with this “Pregnancy and Breast-feeding Hotline”. Being flustered, I asked if they did abortions. The response was that they do not do abortions but refer the callers to the clinics that do abortions.

I thanked her and hung up. I shook with horror! I asked another pro-lifer to call the 800 hotline number to confirm my information.. What a nightmare it was! I had flashbacks and recalled another Maricopa phone number in addition to this, at least that is what I thought. I knew what I had to do. I had to get the proof, the truth.

I went through two boxes of documents I had saved from research I had done in the past several years. They were still stored outside on the patio. I fought spiders, cobwebs and crickets. I prayed that I would find everything intact. I prayed to find out the monster or monsters behind this ad and who funds it? I started to gradually find documents, slow but sure. I had to work fast; the wind was blowing in rain.

I decided to call that 800 number again in the late afternoon. This time I asked where the referrals were and I was given the following info: 1) Glendale Planned Parenthood, (up to 12-week gestation) 2) A- Z Women Center (up to 24-week gestation), 3) Abortion Services of Phoenix, 4) Northwest Women's Center, 5) Family Planning Institute 997-7493 (up to the 16th week of gestation).

How horrifying! Once again the abortion-provider-machine had hidden behind a seemingly helping-hand-to-moms agency. The Catholic Sun newspaper and the Phoenix Catholic Diocese had to be notified, and then what?

I will try to show what started six years ago with this advertisement, the 800 phone number and those involved in this deception. Every city in the country has the same threat facing them. In this four-part report I will show how Planned Parenthood, your taxpayer money and deception has led this country into a death mentality.

A Special Update

By Thomas J. Brueckner, M.S.

A recent pro-family march in Bozeman to oppose the gay agenda brought out a large group supporting the gay agenda, organized in part by personnel from the Montain Country Womens Clinic [sic], where abortions are performed. Stacey Haugland was one of the chief organizers of the counter-march; she is also the administrator of the abortion mill.

Other abortion personnel include Susan M. Wicklund, the GP abortionist; Kristi Campbell, a "health educator" for the mill; and Holly Hausmann, physician's assistant at the mill.

The previous abortionist, Francis W. Balice, is in retirement. He and his wife Grace have occasionally attended Mass at Resurrection Parish in Bozeman, whose pastor is Rev. Robert Hall. The abortionist Balice has not received the sacraments for many years, according to his wife.He is over 70 years old. His former employees include Kim Zavalney, LPN, and Ginny Burgin, receptionist.

Pro-life friends in Bozeman have had Friday afternoon Rosary vigils at this mill intermittently since 1993. They carry an icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe as they pray at the four corners around the mill, which is located in an office building that occupies an entire city block. Their usual intention during prayer at the fifth sorrowful mystery is the conversion of sinners, especially the abortionist and her employees.

THE EVENING NEWS

By Sue Widemark

In the news, recently, were two notable stories. First, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill which includes a ban on partial birth abortions (the ones where they pull an older preborn baby out of the mother's womb, feet first, until the head gets stuck, and then poke a hole in the baby's head and suction out the baby's brain to collapse its head and kill it) The bill also included a type of vouchers so poor kids can either select suburban schools or go to private schools - this bill was strongly supported by Newt Gingrich.

Clinton's reaction was a promise to veto the bill. Letters may help on this one - if Clinton is convinced that large numbers of voters would become angry if he vetoed the bill, perhaps he might think that they would take their anger to the polls.

The second story was also related to our growing society of death: A man named Sang, who had been fired from a restaurant in Miami Beach, got on a school bus, claimed to be armed and to have a bomb which he would use if the driver did not detour to the restaurant of his former employer.

At the restaurant police were waiting for him and they shot and killed him when he got off the bus. When they examined his dead body, they found out that he was not armed at all and his 'bomb' was an empty Oxygen bottle. Police justified this killing by saying they felt the children on the bus were in danger but it seems that they didn't try too hard to capture the man alive. The news regarded this as nothing more than an 'oops'.

Clinton coldly promises to veto a bill which bans a ghastly type of abortion with no regard for the older babies involved, who are mostly alive until their brains are suctioned out (no anesthesia is given to the baby even though it's been well proven that 21- week pre-borns can feel pain). Trigger-happy police murder an unarmed man with little effort to take him alive. No regard for the value of his life either.

Pro-death advocates may distinguish between the life of a preborn baby and the life of an adult but it seems that society in general does not. And, if the baby's life is declared to have no worth, the adult's life becomes worthless as well. You might say, by allowing 4,400 babies to be destroyed daily, we are endangering our own lives, for society would just as quickly destroy us should it become clear to them that we are inconvenient in some manner. A chilling thought.

PRO-LIFE HINTS

We have all thought, "I am just one person. What can I do to fight abortion?" You'll be happy to know that there are a lot of things that you can do that are effective, fast and fun!

Some ideas we present might not be something you feel comfortable doing, while other ideas seem to strike a bell.

We encourage you to try at least three different ideas and let us know how it goes!

This month we will list inexpensive ideas using printed media. Keep newspaper articles concerning abortion. Make sure the name and date of newspaper is included for reference. Make at least two copies, keeping one for your personal files. You need a pro-life file and a pro-abortion file.

If you do not have copies of any abortion horror stories yet, send a S.A.S.E. and we will send you a few to get you started. Then, as you start looking for this type of item in papers and magazines, please send us copies of what you find. Always clip the source, name of the paper or magazine, author and date and attach it to the copy of the story.

You might feel that these are minute ways to attack a horrible death attitude, but they work. The secular media is one of our greatest challenges. Let's start getting people to think about what they write, what they read and how they think! These are the physiological ways of war for the defense of life.

Next month's hints - want ads. Now just think about it and send in your ideas and we will include them. Remember, we can take this country back to the respect-all-life attitude in simple, inexpensive, fun ways.V - K.S.
