Two good reference books are recommended for pro-life vs. pro-choice arguments. Christian Right To Life Connection passes on this information: "For those who want rational, scientific, legal, biological, ethical and theological answers they can use when engaged in conversation with pro-abortion friends, there are two books that are indispensable. You should be able to obtain either through a Christian (or maybe secular) bookstore:
The October Life Table concept provided by Children of the Rosary was a great success again this year. As we had last year, we provided a complete table full of pro-life literature, bumperstickers, Precious Feet, books and other CoR items.
Since we are fast approaching Roe v. Wade Death Anniversary, many parishes and groups will be acknowledging the day with rallies, marches or pro-life tables at their churches.
We will once again provide the a table full of items for any group requesting it. Please contact us early so we can prepare for your needs as efficiently as possible.
Call Mondays-Fridays at 715-643-5046 for more information. The table set-up is also available for any pro-life Mass being celebrated.

I have spoken with someone in Shield of Roses in Glendale, California. I did this due to a botched abortion that I had at Family Planning Associates in October, 1982.
I found out that I was pregnant the day before my 21st birthday. Like a lot of others, I was on the pill and it supposedly had a 95% success rate, right?
My mom, an R.N. and 'Miss Pro-Abortion' herself, took me to Planned Parenthood in Santa Ana, California to be "counselled." There I was told that no man would want me with a kid, gave me a list of how much baby items cost and asked me how I could afford it. She never gave me information on adoption, or keeping the child.
Well, good ol' Mom had a co-worker who knew of this "good doctor." I went to the clinic. They have TVs on Saturday morning cartoons in a majority of the rooms to distract people. I was hustled here and there, knocked out and when I came to I could hear an abortion being done on a girl and she was crying out for her mom. The nurse told her to be quiet, that it was almost over.
I went home and began to bleed heavily-three pads an hour by the next day (Sunday). I called this number in case of an emergency, and was told to wait until the next day, not to go to an emergency room, that if I did that I would have to pay for it myself.
I passed off the baby the following morning. I was in a lot of pain. I was up all night-it is just like being in labor-a searing kind of pain.
The baby fit into the palm of my hand-had little arms, a face and the legs were missing. I remember staring at the rib cage and kept thinking "Oh, my God, what have I done to you?"
I cried and told it I was sorry. I wrapped it up in tissue paper and put it in a baggie. When I got to the clinic they took one look at it and threw it in the trash.
I had to sit there with my kid in the trash for five hours. I was told I would have no problems having kids. I have had three miscarriages and my son was born five weeks early. I had to go to nursing school to get all the facts on abortion. I had no idea what laminaria was, and I understand it is used in D&E. That is what they did on me, because after my third miscarriage I got copies of my record and it said D&E. I looked it up and was disgusted. I had no idea at all. I didn't know about Asherman's Syndrome, when scar tissue occurs from too much scraping, or the risk of perforation from being under anesthesia. Or colostomy! Who would want a woman with a colostomy?
Also, in the Merck Manual (medical referral book) it says that in 1963 the ratio of abortion to live births was 13 to 1000. In 1980 the ratio was 364 to 1000. Food for thought.
The truth must get out!
It has been a constant challenge for pro-lifers to keep tabs on the abortionists. It is vital for the counsellors to have the background of these paid assassins so the counsellors can warn the women walking into the killing mills.
As much as we are concerned about the life of the child, we also are concerned about the mom walking into the mill. Naturally, she will not be warned about the past charges against the abortionist. She will have no idea that she might be letting a drug-addicted medical person treat her.
In Phoenix, Greg Walker, abortionist for hire, presently picking up a paycheck for A-Z Womens Clinics, has been restricted in his personal activities. He has had such a grave problem with drugs that, by court order, he is not even allowed to take aspirin without the supervision of another doctor. And he is allowed to practice!
Other abortionists keep moving from city to city, or they travel to different mills on a bi-weekly basis to kill babies. Dr. Gunn, was killed in Florida, was one of the circuit baby killers. He drove from one location to another for the sole purpose of killing.
Abortionist Gary Prohaska, 59, has shown up in Wisconsin. He was an active abortionist in Portland but would fly as far east as Nebraska to kill babies. Rumors flew that he had retired. Not so. He has moved to Wisconsin to fill in the gap left by two other abortionists who have quit.
Abortionists George Woodward, 74, and Leroy Carhart have quit but reportedly have not changed their attitude toward the innocent preborn. - K.S.
Tasteless advertisements go to new depths. A Norwegian newspaper is running a condom ad with the headline reading. "It is hard to see on the outside whether somebody has had casual sex with casual partners. It happens in the best of families." The ad features a photo of Princess Diana wearing white.

St. Cloud, MN receives four stars for the success of a residence for single, pregnant women. The group starting the home was Birthright, now known as Birthline. The house typically shelters 8 to 10 women but can accommodate up to 16 women. In a St. Cloud Visitor interview, November 16, Jackie Johnson, director of the program, stated, "Women come to New Beginnings feeling overwhelmed with their situation. They lack motivation and have low self-esteem. Ours is place for them to learn about themselves, about values and morals, and setting goals and objectives."

"Sex education should be taught in all schools." Wrong! Whether you believe that children should only be taught about the sexual information at home or if you believe the schools have qualified programs on sex to present to the youth, you are strongly recommended to subscribe to Mother's Watch. This publication is well-written, heavily researched and very realistic in its approach. For a copy, send a $20 contribution to Mothers Watch, P.O. Box 2780, Montgomery Village, MD. 20886-2780.

Wisconsin has gained one abortionist, but lost two. Portland has lost one and gained none," said Jim Soderna of Missionaries of the Preborn. His statements in Life Advocate, November 1995, are encouraging. "At this rate, abortions may become nearly impossible to get due to the simple lack of scum willing to do them."

Senator Dole has refused to sign the pledge to support the Republican party's strong pro-life plank. Senator Gramm "dared" him to sign the pledge but Dole responded to refer to his voting record instead. Presidential candidates who have signed the pledge to support the preborn were Alan Keyes, Phil Gramm, Bob Dornan, Pat Buchanan, Dick Lugar, and Lamar Alexander. Pete Wilson and Arlene Spector were the only other Republican presidential office seekers who refused to sign the pledge. Wilson and Spector have both dropped out of the race.

Abortionist David Benjamin, convicted of murder in a botched abortion case, received the maximum sentence allowed - 25 years to life. Judge Robert J. Hanophy was quoted as saying, "Maybe I'm old fashioned, but 'product of conception' is what we used to call a baby."

Planned Parenthood Federation has filed a nationwide class action suit to ban the flyers that name abortionists as "WANTED." Reported in the U.S. News & World Report, November 6, the article stated the views expressed led the reader to believe that "wanted posters" were the cause of the shooting of abortionists. Nobody has written any articles about the dangerous mail carriers who keep shooting up post offices and kill innocent people.

Forget O.J. - Let's talk about Bo Jackson! A successful football Raiders star, as well as making a mark for himself on the baseball field when he was named MVP of the All-Star Game in 1989, Bo Jackson shows us what's most important. Sports Illustrated, October 30, reported that after overhearing a remark from his son, "Why is Daddy never home? Does he have another home with other kids?" Bo announced his retirement from sports.

An excellent study on the apparitions of the Blessed Mother is found in the November issue of Crisis. Though the article centers on the activities in Conyers, Georgia, it also summarizes all approved Marian apparitions. The reported messages from Mary from Conyers, Georgia have repeatedly addressed the horror of abortion.
Rep. Tim Johnson (D) is challenging Sen. Larry Pressler, (R) incumbent from South Dakota. Johnson has hired a media firm to help him in the upcoming senatorial race in that state. Due to great research work from the state's Right To Life group, the connection between the media firm and abortion has been exposed and highlighted.
The Washington Times, weekly edition, November 5th issue quoted South Dakota Right To Life Director Dan Wunrow, "South Dakotans should be very concerned that Congressman Tim Johnson...has hired a Democratic media consultant firm which has as its principal organization coordinator one of the leading pro-abortion proponents, in the country - Tom Oppel." The report states that Oppel managed campaigns in 15 states for the National Abortion Rights Action League in 1990.

The Phoenix Gazette printed a story by Daniel Q. Haney from The Associated Press, August 31, reporting of the combination of drugs (methotrexate and misoprostol) which induce abortions. The story certainly showed the pro-abortion mentality, never describing the dangers and horror of abortion in general and the fact that women are being used as 'guinea pigs' in the studies.
The article has been sitting on the desk for several months and only now did one paragraph jump out.
"Dr. Mitchell Creinin of Magee-Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, who also had tested the two-drug combination , called Hausknecht's work "a very important, well-done study." But he cautioned that since most of the women were in the very early weeks of pregnancy, when abortions are easiest, it probably overstates the effectiveness of the two-drug combination.
"Creinin noted that medical abortions are not as fast or effective as surgical abortions, which work 99 percent of the time."
Let's read it one more time - "Creinin noted that medical abortions are not as fast or effective as surgical abortions, which work 99 percent of the time." Where are the children? Where are the women who should have reported this type of "malpractice?"
Have women been so intimidated by the horror of their decision that they are afraid to charge these "doctors?"

The passionate debate of partial-birth abortions is far from over, with the Senate still holding the bill in committee. John Leo brings out some interesting facts in his commentary in U.S. News & World Report, November 20.
Interesting side bars are that Sen. Ted Kennedy's own son, Patrick, voted for the ban on this abortion procedure. Rep. Jim Moran, from Virginia, pro-abortion advocated, also voted to ban the procedure, stating "It was a costly vote...I'm not going to vote in such a way that I have to put my conscience on the shelf."
Though there were 12 pro-choice legislators who voted to ban the procedure, others fought sickingly hard. Ignoring all facts and continually repeating the same lies of all the women dying if the procedure were eliminated, they still lost in their fight to murder children in such a horrible way. John Leo quoted Naomi Wolf , an abortion rights advocate, in his article, "With the pro-choice rhetoric we use now, we incur three destructive consequences...hardness of heart, lying and political failure."
Leo concluded his page-long reflection:
"Those who defend it reflexively because it might lead to other legislation are in the exact position of gun lobbyists who shoot down bans on assault weapons because those bans may one day lead to a roundup of everyone's handguns. They refuse, on tactical grounds, to confront the moral issue involved. More of the abstract hardness that Wolf writes about.
"Killing a five-month or six-month fetus that's halfway down the birth canal raises a moral issue way beyond that on an ordinary abortion. It's perfectly possible to support a woman's right to abort and still think that the anything-goes ethic of this horrible procedure has no place in a culture with any reverence left for life."
Perhaps this is one of our major challenges! When writers can try to convince the pro-abortion followers that it's o.k. for killing little babies" but the late-term abortions are unacceptable, it shows that we must show everyone the horrible tangled bodies of even the smallest babies.
Though John Leo was supposedly pro-life, his article truly missed the point. This is the best time to reinforce the real facts of abortion - the tearing of the limbs of our precious little ones, no matter how far along they have developed.
You know - they wouldn't do it to a dog! - K.S.
Some abortionists will not kill the older pre-born child. Though the blood money gained from these horrific killings can run over $1,000 per child, the complications of the surgical procedure are much greater. There is a high emotional strain on the baby-killer also as the "doctor" must physically pull the child apart. Due to these conditions, abortion mills have "hired" out-of-town killers to do the procedure. Unidentified medical personnel have shown up on Saturdays in the past at A-Z Women's Center, in Phoenix.
With this in mind, we present a special report from Thomas Brueckner, M.S., pro-life activist from Montana:
"There has recently been interest in forming a chapter of CoR in Bozeman, Montana. Thomas J. Brueckner, a doctoral student in the physics department of Montana State University in Bozeman, has been in contact with CoR and Kathy Sabelko over the Internet. There is a nucleus of families and students in Bozeman who share a devotion to Our Lady and pray the Rosary for an end to abortion. They have conducted Rosary vigils from time to time at the abortion mill, usually on Friday afternoons, using a photo-icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The abortionist in Bozeman is Susan Wicklund. She has been featured on the CBS "60 Minutes" television program. Wicklund is a general practitioner, having dropped out of her OB/GYN residency program after the first year at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. She has been a "circuit-riding" abortionist, with killings at Minneapolis, Duluth, Milwaukee and the infamous Fargo mill. She lives very low profile in Bozeman.
No one in the pro-life community knows if she does abortions in the midwest anymore or if she might be picking up extra money at abortion mills elsewhere in the US. There are 300-400 abortions per year in Bozeman; according to the previous abortionist. Most of the abortions are on women from MSU. This is generally recognized as being too few to be an abortionist's sole business."
