Children of the Rosary had a table set up at an annual Rosary Sunday gathering in Phoenix. This is an easy way to spread the word about the need to have prayer to end abortion at the killing mills.

God's Choice - Not Ours

By Katherine Sabelko

How many times do we hear couples saying how many children they plan to have when they're married? In years past, couples would express the desire to have many children, with the blessings of Our Creator. Nowadays, many couples express their desire to have a few children with the help of man's inventions.

In years past, a husband and father desired to provide his family a decent home, a pantry filled with food and a good education for his children. A wife and mother with healthy children, a well-kept home and a loving relationship with her husband.

"The good old days" are long gone and the American age of innocence dissolved as we allowed a contraceptive mentality to control the family and to dictate our lives. Now we face a world of violence in the streets and in the family. We witness the decay of the spiritual lives of our leaders, friends and family. It seems we have lost control and that chaos rules the land, but, that really isn't true.

God is victorious. He always has beenand He always will be. With all our modern scientific devices and medical advances, each day we witness His power and His love.

A McCall's magazine article, "An Inconceivable Birth," September, shows us how God's plans will not be stopped because of our ignorance. A family had decided that two healthy little girls were enough and the wife, Fran Casto, of Townsville N.C., underwent a tubal ligation.

The next year she found out she was pregnant, to the surprise of the couple. Though they were thrilled with their third daughter, the couple decided that the husband should get a vasectomy - just to be sure. The husband, Moe, was quoted, "Now there's no chance of our ever having more children."

Guess they forgot about God's wonderful plans for them! More than 12 years later, much to the surprise of the Casto family, Fran was once again expecting, at 42. The family reported they were shocked but thrilled by the news of unexpected pregnancy and the coming bundle of joy.

The doctor, James Goodwin, M.D., summed up the miracle of life, saying, "I've never delivered a baby where the mother has had a tubal ligation and the father has had a vasectomy. The odds of both procedures failing must be astronomical. All I can say is that this baby was destined to be here."

The doctor was right. The child was destined to be here. All the children conceived, though some are aborted, were destined to be here. Hopefully more people will begin to trust in God's will and realize that He really does know best!

THE MIRACLE

Sidewalk counsellors witnessed a miracle in front of Planned Parenthood in Phoenix in July, while they were offering abortion-bound women literature, caring words and their sincere concern for each individual.

It is not often that the client will walk over to a counsellor to talk, but one day a young woman did stop. The counsellors were able to give her factual information of the dangers of abortion for her baby and herself and offer information regarding any aid she might need. The counsellors were also able to convince the woman to accept a rosary before she walked into the mill.

Counsellors and prayer warriors silently hold a prayer vigil from the time the women walk into the mill and during the time that the babies are being killed inside, pleading to God that the women will change their minds and accept life.

While they silently prayed outside, God's love touched that woman and apparently spread though the crowded waiting room inside the abortuary.

The woman who had accepted the rosary came back out, and brought six other women with her, all having changed their minds. Seven children were saved, and seven mothers chose life - on the Feast of the Precious Blood.

Does prayer work? Yes! Are you needed to help pray at abortion mills? Yes!

God is waiting for us to take part in His loving mercy for us all. We just need to be faithful and He will do the rest.

Please consider helping women realize how important life is by your presence at the abortion mill. The prayer sites are listed on the back page of the Newsgram. - K.S.

Tamis Blitz

Robert Tamis is a man who seems confused. Since 1970 he has been a defender of abortion yet resents being called an abortionist.

Tamis has stated, in a sleazy, second rate publication in Phoenix, that he was tired of playing God, referring to his side business - killing babies - but to this day he hasn't quit killing babies.

Tamis, who is Jewish, has stated that to compare abortion to the holocaust is wrong because "those people" had a chance to leave Germany. He believes in choice and that women have a right to have their babies killed.

Well, this confused doctor also hangs his shingle out as a "Fertility Specialist," and ischarging thousands of dollars to help a woman conceive a child. But many of the couples and women going into his expensive offices have no idea that he also kills perfectly healthy babies all the way up to twenty weeks in a little grey shack of a house.

In the hopes that the clients of Tamis might learn the truth about their choice of medical doctors, pro-lifers decided to picket his fertility office on 24th Street in Phoenix for a week under the hot August Arizona sun. Anywhere between 5 to 15 people showed up daily to help show the truth about Bob Tamis and his abortion practice, hidden away several miles distant.

Every morning for two hours, huge signs were held up explaining to the public that Tamis kills babies up to 20 weeks old. There were also 3' x 4' signs of Malichi, an child aborted at 20 weeks, held up so that people would understand that an aborted baby is a murdered child.

One other important thing was done during the picket: the address of the Tamis' abortuary was listed on about a third of the signs.

The location of the abortuary has always been treated as "top secret" by his staff. Tamis really tries to hide the fact that his side job is killing children. The businesses have different names, phone numbers and addresses but the same staff.

So, even though he has gone to great efforts to hide knowledge of his sordid, blood money, the signs told the story.

Though it is hard to gauge the reaction from any picket, there has been an odd development at his abortuary. Tamis always kills on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 3549 E. Cambridge. However, ever since the picket began he has not done any abortions on Tuesdays and has been open only one Saturday in the last three weeks. I'd call him to find out why he has changed his schedule, but I don't think he wants to talk to me.

No matter the reason for the abortuary being closed at this time, we still need people to pray at the location every Tuesday at 7 a.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m. Since thousands of children have been killed there, much prayer will be needed to stop the spiritual effects of this heinous activity.

Please give us a call if you are considering praying at Abortion Services, 3549 E. Cambridge, in Phoenix, but have questions or need directions.

Planned Parenthood? - Not in This Diocese

It is often expressed that as individuals, we really can't do much to fight abortion. However, here is just one example of how much one person can do - in this case, an alert doctor.

On Monday (August 25) CoR received a call from this doctor, asking about a Planned Parenthood(PP) brochure he had received in the morning mail. As a pro-life doctor, he was very offended by the PP literature.

Checking the mailing label, he realized that Planned Parenthood had used the Medical Directory address list to send all physicians information concerning an upcoming PP conference at a Catholic group's facilities in Phoenix.

The Franciscan Renewal Center (FRC) was listed as the site for a conference by PP on "Sex in the Middle Years."

A call was made to the Bishop's office to ask if the Bishop was aware of this seemingly inappropriate situation. The secretary stated she wasn't informed of it and would certainly pass the information on to Bishop Thomas J. O'Brien.

To make a long story short, within 24 hours this conference was canceled, the money returned to PP and a statement from FRC stated that they were not aware of the booking (the woman who accepted it is no longer working there), and that they would never allow PP to ever be there again. When askedif they were aware of what PP represented with abortion, they stated that they had been called by the Bishop's office and such a conference booking at FRC would never happen again.

This could have taken pro-lifers days or even weeks to alert, inform and convince FRC to cancel the PP conference. It took but one observant doctor to care enough to end it, in but one day.

That's what just one person can do. That was on a Monday. I'll bet we can all think of something for just one day in our parish, business or town to further the sancitity of life.

Special thanks to Bishop Thomas J. O'Brien for his swift action. - K.S.

DID YOU KNOW?

Dr. Dean Edell must be taking lessons from Kevorkian. On a radio station program, Edell noted an organ donor study that stated that since more people are using seatbelts in their vehicles, car accident deaths have gone down. The study drew a direct parallel that since fewer people are dying in accidents, there are now many more people who will be denied the opportunity of life because of a shortage of organ donation.

A fellow pro-lifer sends this info on: The American Academy of Pediatrics at its annual Chapter Forum meeting, September 11-13, will be voting on Resolution #48, which would support banning Partial-Birth Abortions.

Please contact your local Pediatrician and ask him to speak to his Chapter President and Vice President, asking them to support Resolution #48. Please get this information out as fast as possible. And Pray for its passage.

Father George Parker was honored by hundreds of pro-lifers in Baltic, Connecticut, for his spiritual courage in a modern immoral society.

Father Parker denounced Sen.. Christopher Dodd for his support of the partial-birth abortion procedure. Referring to Dodd as a disciple of death, he returned a $5,000 contribution, on May 24th, that Dodd had given to his parish in 1995.

Poland's Constitutional Tribunal reversed a recent national abortion law. The Polish Tribunal Chairman Andrzej Zoll stated, "The highest value in a democracy is human life, which must be protected from its beginning to the end."

Father Robert Drinan dropped his support of partial-birth abortion after a nationwide protests from Catholics reached his Jesuit superiors and the Vatican. Father Drinan, having a long history of supporting abortion as a member of Congress from Massachusetts issued a formal statement:

"I do not believe every moral evil should be outlawed. I do, however, see abortion -- particularly partial-birth abortion -- as a grave evil and can understand why Church leaders are urging lawmakers to ban it. I do not want anything to impede that effort. On the contrary, I join in that effort and stand ready to promote laws and public policies that aim to protect vulnerable human life from conception until natural death. I support the Catholic bishops in their efforts to exercise moral leadership in the fight against abortion."

In California, Planned Parenthood has filed suit to block parental consent of minors for abortion. The 1996 statistics showed that 35,000 teenagers in California had abortions.

We do not have any statistics on how many parents had no idea that they lost a grandchild and we have no figures on how many of those teens died from the abortion or will suffer from complications from an abortion. - K.S.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

The following letters to the Editor appeared in the Arizona Republic on July 27 and July 31 respectively. Our pro-lifers certainly presented excellent responses to the statements from an abortionist in the article by Chris Fiscus, announcing our Supreme Court bubble-zone victory.

Doctor's remarks silly

The remarks of dedicated abortionist Dr. Brian Finkel are silly when he condemns those who pray outside his abortion clinic as "meanspirited, hatefilled Christians" engaged in "guerrilla theater." (July 15, Arizona Republic).

We pray for the mothers, the babies being destroyed, and for the conversion of Dr. Finkel himself. Perhaps the reason for the edge in his voice when he blasts us as "meanspirited sociopath(s)" is his own hurting conscience, and his fear that he, like pioneer abortion crusader and abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson, might come over to our side. Not only did the atheist Dr. Nathanson renounce his leadership of the pro-abortion cause and become a Roman Catholic. Many other abortion workers, including Norma McCorvey, of Roe vs. Wade fame, have become pro-lifers, too.

Surely medical school didn't teach Dr. Finkel to come out to us on the sidewalk and, addressing a praying woman next to me as "Honey," ask her why she wasn't home watching her soap operas. Nor does a medical practitioner comfortable in his conscience come out, as Dr. Finkel has, and wave a beach-towel-sized cloth with a picture of Elvis Presley at praying people, presumably to ward off prayer-power with Elvis' gyrations.

Dr. Finkel probably realizes he'd feel more comfortable as a protector of the babies and their families, but the very idea still seems so alien to him. C'mon, change for the better, Dr. Brian. You don't have a prayer.

Dexter Duggan

Abortion foes are peaceful.

In your lead story of July 15 regarding the Bubble Zone court case, you quoted Brian Finkel as stating "...guerrilla theater outside my office."

I have spent many days in the last 2 1/2 years outside Brian Finkel's office -- with others, quietly, peacefully praying for hearts to change and consciences to be awakened.

In that time, we have never confronted, spoken to or otherwise bothered anyone, unless they sought and asked for help or information.

This is hardly being "mean spirited, hate-filled Christians," as he stated.

The overreaction by most in the abortion "industry" is, sadly, to gain support for their so-called cause.

If we can know truth through reason -- and we can -- then reason will not support the killing of unborn children. Hence, the shrill and indefensible cry from such as Finkel.

Geof Coleman

Editor's Note: We thank our pro-lifers for speaking out! Now, on to our mailbag.

Your publication just keeps getting better and better!

The article in the June Newsgram, "In My Opinion," was much needed and right on target.

Also the "Silence Is Not Always Golden" article in the July issue was excellent. Praise God there are individuals who are not afraid to speak the truth even when it is not "politically correct" to do so.

They have persecuted Him: they will persecute you!

I am also enclosing a donation to help you with your good work.

May you never tire of defending the truth and encouraging the rest of us to do the same.

God bless you,

@ Well, this time you did it! My family has always enjoyed the articles in your Newsletter but the July issue had an article by Jerry Sabelko that I'd like to frame!

"Silence Is Not Always Golden" really hit one of our problems right on the head! Truth never changes and truth is what we need to hear!

I suggest every priest working in a parish receive a copy of that article. I made a copy and handed it to my pastor. I have not had a response yet but I certainly will write you if I do hear from him.

Thank you for your generous donation [purchase of 1,000 leaflets, used as an insert in a Newsletter - "I AM GOD] toward our work from Children of the Rosary! We are deeply grateful and it will be a big boost to lower our printing costs.

It pleased us to know the leaflet was well received by your readers. Enclosed is a copy of our most recent tract in case you find it helpful, now or in the future.

Know that you and all your fellow workers are remembered in our humble prayers. You are doing a great work for God and we are inspired by your dedication!

Please remember us in prayer, too, and may Our Blessed Mother continue to keep all of her beloved Children of the Rosary close to her Immaculate Heart.

Sincerely, in the Blood of Jesus,
