FROM YOU!

When debating the abortion issue, you have two options. You can argue from a Christian point of view or a human rights point of view. I suggest that you argue the Christian point of view to convince other Christians. However in a legal, (or secular) society, Christians will be more successful arguing from a human rights point of view.

As a candidate for Mayor of Phoenix, I often defend the rights of the unborn and I use the human rights argument. Both opponents, Mayor Skip Rimsza and Councilwoman Thelda Williams, are pro-abortion. Both voted in favor of the infamous “Bubble Ordinance” that attempted to restrict peaceful protest in front of abortion clinics. In fact, a recent Arizona Republic letter-to-the-editor pointed out that Skip Rimsza was also glorified on the cover of Arizona’s Planned Parenthood magazine.

I may never be able to convince Skip Rimsza or Thelda Williams to become pro-life. That’s OK, as long as the voters replace them. I do want to convince the listening and reading audience.

If I argue from a religious standpoint, I will immediately lose the nonbelievers because they will emotionally become alienated. Nonbelievers will not be willing to accept Christ over the abortion issue. If you want someone to accept Christ, learn from Paul’s experience in 1 Corinthians 3,1-2:

"Brothers, I could not talk to you as spiritual people, but as fleshly people, as infants in Christ. I fed you milk, not solid food, because you were unable to take it."

Following are some examples of how I defend the life of the unborn in the secular society. The bold statements were made in a local newsletter. After each statement is my response. I hope this helps you and your readers in defending the rights of the unborn.

The ‘life’ he has is not his own, it is his mother’s.

Biologically, the child is a distinct and unique individual having its own life. Dr. Jerome LeJeune states in his testimony to the U.S. Congress in 1983, "All characteristics of each person -sex, eye color, shoe size, intelligence, etc. - are determined at fertilization by the baby’s genetic code in [its] human chromosomes." If anyone can find biological evidence that disputes this statement, I will gladly consider it.

As a unique individual, the unborn child has a right to its own body and is not the property of anyone else. Once a human, always a human. If the fetus is not a human, I would like a pro-abortionist definition of the exact period of time when the unborn child transforms from the state of property to an individual. If you could do so, I would gladly consider your position.

He is nothing but a part of her body, utilizing her blood, her nutrients, and her oxygen. If his parasitic existence...

Atheist Doris Gordon, founder of Libertarians for Life, points out, "A ‘test-tube’ baby spends the first few days in a petri dish, far from the mother. A baby conceived naturally does not connect to the mother at conception but 7-10 days later, after floating down a fallopian tube into her womb. In neither situation is the child part of where he or she lives. Even after implantation, the child becomes isolated inside his or her own amniotic sac, and from that point makes indirect contact with the woman only by the way of an umbilical cord and placenta."

An infant utilizes its mother’s nutrients (breast milk) by making direct contact. Does that classify the infant as a parasite?

He has absolutely no right to any assistance in living. The only right he has is the same as any other needy and helpless individual: that of making his position as pathetic as possible in the hope that someone will take pity on him and voluntarily donate whatever he needs. Unlike any other needy and helpless individual, parents cause their child’s existence.

If a man is paralyzed, and in a wheel chair, no one would argue hotly that he has a right to walk... Until it (fetus) has successfully taken in "the breath of life", as the Bible says, there is no more point in talking about its right to live than there is in talking about the paralyzed man’s right to walk. He doesn’t have the right to walk but you do NOT have the right to tip him off his wheel chair in your back yard and then watch him die of starvation. Better still, you don’t have the right to kill him because he parked himself and his wheel chair in your driveway. Neither should you aggress against the unborn child by ripping off her limbs and crushing her skull (Dilation & Evacuation;) cutting her into pieces and scraping her out (Dilatation & Curettage,) poisoning her amniotic sac with saline amniocentesis; or sucking the brains out of her head (Dilation & Extraction).

You must be using an alias. You got to be a man! I don't care how many babies die. Look at Bosnia. Why don't you go over there! Take me off your mailing list!

A lot needs to be said in regards to Teen Sex Education programs which were listed in the July Newsgram. Sorry to say, there is potential damage in them. I am a mother of 4, a Billings Natural Family Planning Instructor of 15 years and married 22 years. I used to think, "Here are some teen programs that teach abstinence, are Christian or even Catholic that we can put our trust in." That was 10 years ago Since then they have become out-of-line.

I read "Analysis of Teen Star" by Human Life International and the rebuttal from Hanna Klaus of my very organization, Billings. I've seen her surveys. pre and post test over the years. I became more and more disappointed after watching it over the years.

Sex education doesn't belong in school or teen programs; only in the home. Be sure to read Familiaris Consortio , an exhortation of Pope John Paul II.

Did you ever ask yourself why parents can't be taught or aided? This way the parent can have the honor to teach their own youngsters. Besides, every child is different and their instructions can vary. In the sacrament of marriage we receive graces just for this reason. We have graces in all sacraments and let's don't forget the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Also, a Natural Family Planning instructor would be honored to help and guide. You may invite them in your home or group. I think a good book to read is "Know Your Body," published by Our Sunday Visitor. While I am on the subject, there's a lot you should know. The Catholic schools, after-school and teen programs are extremely vulnerable to be out-of-line. Why? Because state laws on sex education do not apply to them. Therefore, those who wish to dodge the laws can do so in these organizations. They also hide behind gangs, drug, AIDS education and others. Ask the State for their sex education laws. Don't think that it can't happen in your church or parish. It can and will. Remember, no one loves and knows your child better than you; except God!

Really appreciated the petition in your last Newsgram. [IMAGE]

I went to Kinko's and made 50 copies. When I ask someone to sign the petition and they ask for a copy to find more names - I got them. Please pass this on for other readers.

Did you hear that Planned Parenthood is offering flu (and measles - I think) shots. I heard flu for sure - and they spoke of immunizations for the family. Gag!

NEWGRAM INFORMATION

If you are wondering how you can receive the monthly Newsgram, we will have to say you can't subscribe to it. The only way you can receive the Newsgram each month is with your donation to CoR.

You see, for each five dollars you donate to the cause to fight abortion, you will receive a Newsgram. So, if you send in twenty dollars for our totally voluntary, nonprofit group, you will receive a Newsgram for four months - one month for each five dollars you send.

It is rather difficult to borrow a copy of a Newsgram. Most people who receive it just don't want their only copy out of their hands. The best way to ensure you get the last-minute pro-life news, locally and nationally, is to give from your heart - to save another heart - the heart of a small baby who will be saved through the work of us all.

God bless all of you who donate - without your generosity, this publication could not be printed and distributed. If you would like to send us a donation, simply use the envelope included with this issue.

Tempe policeman smiling as he watches us pray at abortuary

POLICE OFFICER HAS IT RIGHT!

By Katherine Sabelko

A federal lawsuit has been filed by a police officer in Chicago against the city. The city has a policy which accommodates the religious beliefs of their employees. Apparently, the city refused to apply this policy to the Roman Catholic police officer who objected to guarding an abortion mill.

The officer, Angelo Rodriguez, alleges in the lawsuit that his religious beliefs, that abortion is wrong and against the teaching of the Catholic Church, were not recognized.

Placing police in such a situation has been a constant objection of Children of the Rosary. The Phoenix, Glendale and Tempe police departments state that they do not take sides and are there only to preserve order. This is also the argument that the city of Chicago is using in their defense.

The truth is that any police officer who is positioned at an abortuary is in a tenuous position. Thought the argument could be make that they only stand to keep order, they place themselves in spiritual harm's way.

If there is a pro-life rescue, will these same police officers be called upon to pull rescuers away from the doors? If they do, sadly, they then are taking part in the abortion for they are aiding the abortionist in getting to the preborn victim.

In a discussion with the Glendale City Attorney, in 1993, I requested that a "morals clause" be provided for the Glendale police for this very reason. His response was shocking when he explained that if Glendale police had a morals clause, he was afraid that they wouldn't do half the things they were ordered to do. I was stunned by the statement. I have never forgotten it. All the more reason to have a morals clause.

Many detectives and older police have just a few years to retirement and fear losing their jobs if they reject the abortion mill duty. Too many police employees are placed in positions that threaten the loss of their soul. No job is worth losing eternal life with God.

The easiest answer is to give all police departments the "morals clause." Pro-lifers would rather deal with possible rough abuse from pro-death police then to know that pro-life police are placed in spiritual jeopardy. Maybe it would be clearer if they called it a "God Clause."

BITS AND PIECES

A woman faces criminal charges for crossing state lines with a minor so that the 13-year-old-girl could get an abortion, Associated Press reported September 15, 1995. She was not the mother. Pro-abortion lawyers state the 13-year-old is being denied her constitutional rights. It seems there are two minors whose rights are in question. The baby who will lose its life and the teenager who might not even realize the fact that she already is a mommy at conception.

Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF) sues IRS. The Internal Revenue Service refuses to acknowledge the pro-life group for a tax-exempt status. This pro-life group provides legal assistance to every pro-lifer in their ministry. Their motto has always been: "No case is too small." For additional information on this group, write to them at:

Walmart had carried Planned Parenthood brochures in their databases in their pharmacies. Apparently PP had some statements referring to "bogus abortion clinics." As soon as it was brought to Walmart's attention, the information was pulled from their database.

Abortionist Alan Weiselberg was indicted for twelve charges of health insurance fraud. The Newark, New Jersey abortionist owns five abortion mills.

Founder of Operation Rescue, Randall Terry, starts The Christian Leadership Institute. Randall stated that "the purpose of the school is to identify, equip and raise up men who will rebuild American institutions on the Ten Commandments." A spokeswoman for National Organization for Women claims that Terry's attitude, ideas and plans can develop to dangerous levels. Kathy Helmbock stated, "He is a representative of the violent wave of the anti-abortion movement." - K.S.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard -
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word!
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn't mind) -
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!
I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way!
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small -
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all!
